How would you describe the Pee Wee Bit?

The Pee Wee Bit is a Loose Ring Snaffle with a Mullen Mouth. The Mullen Mouth places even pressure on the horse's bars. It is a very mild mouth piece.
The mouth piece is 1/3" thick (0.315").

What is the optimum thickness for a mouth piece?

The mouth piece on a bit should be over 1/4" and under 1/2".
The horse's mouth is filled almost completely by his tongue. Most horses prefer an average diameter mouthpiece, which provides slightly more space in an already cramped mouth. Additionally, thicker mouthpieces do not give a great deal of extra bearing surface, and so generally don't help as much as many riders believe.
Mouth pieces that are extremely thin, those that are only 1/8-1/4" in thickness, are not mild. These can be damaging to a horse's mouth.

What is the Pee Wee Bit made of?

The Pee Wee Bit is made from quality stainless steel which gives the bit a clean neat look, with a sweet iron mouth piece. The sweet iron is intended to rust which gives it a sweet taste promoting saliva, hence the term sweet iron. The Bit is light and comfortable which is important allowing the horse to relax and move the tongue freely without discomfort.

What sizes does the Pee Wee Bit come in?

The Pee Wee Bit comes in
Standard Size for ponies (12 1/2hh) to warmbloods (16 1/2hh).
Large Size for warmbloods (16 1/2hh+) to draft

All Quarter Horses, Arabians, Thoroughbreds and most Warmbloods require the standard size. Large size for the Draft and Draft Cross.
As a guide Pee Wee Bit standard size if your pony/horse is using a 4" - 5 1/2" snaffle
Large size if using 6" - 7"

How should the bit sit in the horses mouth?

Light Pressure in the Mouth - Little or no wrinkles on the lips.
When the Pee Wee bit is sitting correctly in the mouth there should be little to no wrinkles in the corners of the horse's mouth.
Adjustment of the bridle cheek straps is important. You should ensure the mouth bar of the bit contacts the corners of the mouth but the pressure should only be light.

The chin strap should be loose allowing the bit to move freely. When fitted you should be able to slide 2 fingers between the strap and the chin.

Who developed the Pee Wee Bit?

Pee Wee Stevenson from Lindrith, New Mexico is the inventor of the Pee Wee Bit, hence the name Pee Wee Bit. His Ol' Mate from Australia, the highly respected Dave Macdonald, inventor of the famous Old Mac's Multi Purpose Horse Boot and Barefoot Sculptor, developed the bit to production stage.
