What type of bit is the CC Bit?
The CC Bit is a Loose Ring Snaffle with a curved Mullen Mouth. The Mullen Mouth places even pressure on the horse's bars. It is a very mild mouth piece.
How thick is the mouth piece?
The mouth piece is .4" thick (10mm).
The mouth piece on a bit should be over 1/3" and under 1/2".
As the horse's mouth is filled almost completely by it's tongue most horses prefer an average diameter mouthpiece, which provides slightly more space in an already cramped mouth. Additionally, thicker mouthpieces do not significantly increase surface area, and so generally don't help as much as many riders believe.
Mouth pieces that are extremely thin, those that are only under 1/4" in thickness, are not mild. These can be damaging to a horse's mouth.
What is the CC Bit made of?
The CC Bit is made from quality stainless steel. The Bit is light and comfortable which is important, allowing the horse to relax and move the tongue freely without discomfort.
What sizes do the CC Bits come in?
The CC Bit comes in
4 1/2" and 5"
Quarter Horses, Arabians, Thoroughbreds and most Warmbloods require the 4 1/2
5" for the bigger Warmbloods, Draft and Draft Cross.
How should the bit sit in the horses mouth?
Light Pressure in the Mouth - Little or no wrinkles on the lips.
When the CC Bit is sitting correctly in the mouth there should be little to no wrinkles in the corners of the horse's mouth.
Adjustment of the bridle cheek straps is important. You should ensure the mouth bar of the bit contacts the corners of the mouth but the pressure should only be light.
Which disciplines can use the Bit?
The CC Bit is highly recommended for all disciplines including trail riding, show jumping, eventing, barrel racing, team penning, campdrafting, dressage, driving, reigning, polo, thoroughbred & harness racing. Also great for breaking in and educating young horses & re-educating older horses.
