horse bits and horse tack from pee wee bits

"It can be said that I have a unique perspective when it comes to understanding and evaluating the horse and rider as I have been a chiropractor for almost 20 years and have been riding for over 30 years. I am thrilled (to say the least) with my initial and continued experience using the Pee Wee bit.

The first week that I had a Pee Wee Bit in my possession I was so inspired by the results with my own three horses that I arranged to have it tested on four other horses. All seven horses with individual evasions (yet familiar to all of us who ride and train) showed improvements in rein contact and stride. The horses became softer and more supple through the mouth, head and neck, and moving more freely through the shoulders. All of this was accomplished with much less rider support and correction as the horses moved straighter and more relaxed into the bridle.

Simple in design, the nicely curved mullen mouth is inviting to even the softest mouthed horse. A horse that wants to head tilt, lean on a rein or lug in resistance can be corrected with basic rein aids that activate the angled side bars (shanks). Once corrected, the horse experiences the positive reinforcement of the gentle loose ring mullen mouth. The bit can correct the heaviest and ugliest of evasions even with basic riding skills. Riding using the Pee Wee Bit creates beautiful results for all levels of riders and horses.

The immediate results that I experienced using the Pee Wee Bit on my three horses were profound.

The first of my horses to try the bit is my 6yo American Thoroughbred gelding who has been 2 months in longline training and working in an underwater treadmill to get him ready for job. Mic is a big athletic mover with three good gaits. He has a very soft mouth and likes to drop behind the bit. Immediately, Mic came out reaching, testing the bit and contact, stretching his head and neck. Within 3 minutes, he was gently flexing at his pole, taking a positive contact. Not long into the session, he began to elevate his shoulders and his movement was eating up the ground, moving more freely and much stronger from behind.

The second of my horses is a 26yo Quarter Horse still in regular work and light competition. Buckaroo is a little stiff to the right and too light in the bridle. Even with the longest of reins he will stretch his neck down but keep his nose tucked (big problem as he has an abnormality of his epiglottis that will restrict his breathing). Immediately in the Pee Wee bit, Buckaroo was straighter and, best of all, he was reaching to the bit thereby opening his air way....truly a blessing.

The third of my horses is a 14yo Canadian Thoroughbred Gelding who I "rescued". Our re-schooling over the past 12 months has been slow and arduous. Sony, a short backed grey with a small melanoma at his left throat latch would lean on the right rein, not take contact on the left rein, was stiff through right ribcage and bulging right. His arsenal of resistances included spooking, spinning, head shaking in frustration, and the occasional levade and spin left. Reducing the variables of what was physically affecting him, I was about to change bits when I was introduced to the Pee Wee Bit. From the moment I swung my right leg over his back he was yielding and bending through his right ribcage, stretching gently on both reins, and swinging through his back. He is relaxed and happy on the mullen mouth and not the least defensive about the corrections from the side bars.

Chiropractically speaking, a straighter and more symmetrical, supple horse means improved spinal and musculoskeletal alignment and improved joint range of motion. That being said, both horse and rider can finish each ride better adjusted mentally and physically.

It's a beautiful thing, the Pee Wee Bit - truly a priceless bit for all disciplines and levels of horse and rider.

I am personally and professionally indebted to Pee Wee Stevenson and Dave MacDonald for bringing this bit to the world of horse and rider.
